A new furniture collection, designed by Brad Pitt, and made by designer Frank Pollaro, has made its debut this November in New York. The conception of the collection began in 2008, when Pollaro made a personal visit to deliver a custom-designed desk to Pitt’s home in the south of France. While installing the desk, it seems the two realised mutual fascination for detailing and materiality At the same time, Pollaro coincidentally noticed a sketchbook of Brad’s – filled with hundreds of ideas, drawn over the preceding 10 years. Pollaro persuaded Pitt that he would try convert the ideas into reality – eventually forming the first pieces of this collection. Within the four years that followed, Pitt and Pollaro worked to perfect some really intriguing pieces of architecture – imagined by the swish, heavy-weight actor, and translated into interesting material form by the hand-made furniture manufacturer.
The collection seems to captivate fascination in rhythm of line, clarity of unusual solid natural materials, and sensual physical experience. It certainly offers an enchanting glimpse into the creative mind of the world-renowned actor. i
